Steps To Taking Care Of Your Wedding Photos

Your wedding is one of the most, if not the most, important days of your life. Therefore, your wedding pictures are crucial in remembering what a special day it turned out to be. Taking good care of your wedding pictures to ensure their longevity is something that many people do not know how to do. There are certain things you can do though, that will help in this preservation process. First of all, avoid sunlight. Sunlight will eventually destroy a picture, so you could opt, instead, to have an oil painting made of your favorite photo, or enlarge and frame the picture you enjoy the most.

Next, order your wedding photos on acid free paper, as acidity is one of the biggest factors in the fading of your photos. Also, make sure you have a copy of your wedding photos on a CD and store the second set outside of your home somewhere. A safe deposit box is great for something like this, as it protects your photos from things such as fire, storms and floods.

It is also important to make sure you use only photo safe boxes or photo albums for storing your photos and to put them in a dry and dark location. Storing them on the floor leaves them subject to being stepped on, spilled on, or something dropping on them. Despite what some people may think, cleaning your photos with a soft, dry cloth is suggested as well in their preservation. Also, don’t’ forget to also clean the shelves or boxes that you are storing your photos in, to protect from contamination.

It can also be beneficial to upload your wedding pictures to your computer. That way you have any and all pictures backed up in all places in case something happen. Caring for your wedding pictures, the right way, is something to not be taken lightly, as they reflect back on one of the biggest days of your life.
